Each state is responsible for developing its own set of laws with regards to concealed carry. In Minnesota, as well as all other 50 states, it is possible carry a legal concealed weapon, although some states do not require a permit, others do. Conceal or Open Carry
It is important to keep in mind that while it is called concealed carry in Minnesota you are able to openly carry the gun. This means that the gun can be on your person and visible to others. Generally most training facilities do not recommend an open carry for safety and security reasons for yourself and your weapon.
Handgun Restricted Areas
When any person has a permit for concealed carry in Minnesota it is important to keep in mind that laws can supersede that permit. For example, you cannot bring a handgun into police facility, jails, court, most government buildings, schools, day care centers, and any private property of place of employment if carrying handguns is prohibited or restricted by the owner or operator.
In many cases hospitals, stores, bars and some restaurants clearly post signs prohibiting concealed carry in Minnesota on their premises. However, even if you are told verbally and there are no posted signs the restriction is still considered in place.
Other States
If you have a permit for concealed carry in Minnesota you will find that many states will honor the permit and that this is generally reciprocal between the states. However, there are some states, namely Texas, Ohio and Nevada where Minnesota recognizes their permits and they do not recognize a concealed carry from Minnesota.
