Obviously, no one expects to have a wall that, on the press of a button slides completely out of sight but it is not at all unusual to come across walls that can be moved or transformed. Given sufficient space above or below, a wall could be made to slide up into the ceiling or down into the floor but this sort of thing is perhaps better left to the theatre and movie industries. I suppose, that an up and over garage door could be said to be sliding but that is stretching things a bit too far.
For a continuous wall to slide its whole width to the left or right would, again, require an equal length of space to the side (also best left to the entertainment people). For practical considerations, if we want a Sliding Wall System, we should be looking at a relatively light weight wall (definitely not bricks and mortar) preferably made in paneled sections that have been installed so as to run in rails. Ideally, each panel can also hinge in such a way that, when you slide them along the rails, each one folds on another like a concertina. In this way, when all partitions have been slid to the end, they only occupy the width of a single partition; thus providing the maximum opened space. This is what you would need if, for example, you have one quite large space set aside for conferences but, for much of the time, conference attendance does not need that much space. So, you decided to use a Sliding Wall System to split the big room into two which could be used to hold 2 separate conferences at the same time and only opened up when you have the bigger conferences.
If the sliding panels are designed so as to slide completely over each other, the gap when opened is likely to be smaller. If all you require from the sliding is to open a space to walk through then this does not present any obstacles. In such a case, you don’t really have a Sliding Wall System; all you have is a sliding door setup. However, the point is that, with any paneled partitioning system, you have a great amount of flexibility in the layout of both openings and closures.
With glass partitioning from Space Plus at Sliding Wall System you have an extremely flexible office partitioning system for both fixed and moveable positioning. They can turn your ideas into a practical, environmentally friendly and safe office workplace.
