The invitation that you send out to your friends and family is the first glimpse into your wedding style. It can be hard to know what to choose, and that decision may be even harder if you and the groom come from different cultural backgrounds. You may not be sure if you should go with traditional Indian cards or American wedding cards, but to help you figure it all out, we have given you a few tips.

Colors

A lot of couples try to include their wedding colors into their invitations. To create a cohesive look, you should carry your color scheme through all of your paper goods from American wedding cards to menus, and even on the ceremony programs. The classic choices are generally cream or white card with gold or black font; there is a multitude of other colors that you can choose from as well. Browse the Regal Cards website to a better idea of what colors are out there.

Shape and Size

A traditional wedding invitation may be rectangular, but more and more couples are choosing to change that up. You might see scalloped, square, or even circular invitations in your mailbox nowadays. Hot tip: changing up your invitation too much can lead to extra charges at the post office!

Legibility

Sure that amazing scripted typeface looks interesting and glamorous, but if no one can read your invitation, you may not have very many RSVPs. You also want to be aware of color. Lightly colored print on a white or ivory card will be hard to read. Just like dark print on a dark card will be hard to read. Get a sample American wedding card printed so you can see exactly what your invitations will look like when they are printed.

Cost

Make sure that you have a spot in your budget for your invitations. They shouldn’t be included in the miscellaneous costs because they are a fairly important piece of the puzzle. Prices for invitations can vary from $1 per card too much, much more. Every design element can change the cost of your cards. Make sure you think about all the options beforehand and prioritize to get everything within your budget. Don’t forget to budget for your calligrapher and your postage!
