Did He or didn’t He? Will He or won’t He? The talk refers to the second coming of Jesus. Is this just another difference in opinion that keeps the Church and the Body of Christ, divided? Every reader should ask if knowing whether or not the Son of Man has already come will make a difference in the way they live while here on this earth.
Did He Come Already?
Some say that Jesus, the Son of Man came with the clouds during the destruction of Jerusalem in 66 – 70 A.D. The claim is that coming in the clouds in symbolic of God’s righteousness and judgment. Mike F. Blume cites many scriptures that speak of the coming of Jesus in the clouds and indicates that the high priest of His day and some of the disciples would also be able to witness this event. He relies on 2 Samuel 22:7 – 14 where God answers the cry of David when he was distressed. He says that there is another coming, a physical coming of the Son of Man coming in the clouds, and this was not the 66-70 A. D., but is the future event mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 which include the resurrection. Therefore the conclusion that he made is that Jesus came with the clouds in judgment and was not physically seen and He will come again in the resurrection and He will be physically seen.
Will He Come Again?
The features of the second coming of the Son of Man are important as Jesus personally attested to the fact that He will come again (John 14:2). Although the time of this event is not specified it is definite. One of the major thoughts regarding the Son of Man coming in the clouds is that Jesus will be coming with the Body of Christ (Revelation 19:11-16). It is during this time that the antichrist will be defeated and the unbelievers will be removed from the earth.
Sometimes, the second coming of Jesus is confused with what some call the rapture of the believers. There are obviously differences in opinions on this topic. Therefore I ask, what difference does it make if He has or has not already come? He will come again. If you are a believer reading this article now, what impact are you making on the world? Jesus said that His Body should not be ignorant of satan’s tricks, one of which is to divide and conquer. He also said that the world would know who His brothers and sisters are by the love that they have for each other. Let me encourage you to escape the snare that the enemy has set for you, do not be subject to the spirit of division but walk in love and let the world see Jesus through you (2 Corinthians 2:11, Mark 3:25, Matthew 12:25, John 13:34-35, 2 Timothy 2:26).
