You tell yourself you’re prepared, you’ve been through this before and it shouldn’t matter. Every birth is different. That makes second pregnancy fears completely normal. Here are a few fears you might experience:

You might not love the second one as much

It might feel impossible to feel that much love for another child again. And while the thought of not being able to bond with your second child is a common fear, the fact that you’ve already formed an attachment to the first one already indicates that the bond will occur with the second child as well, says Parents.

The second birth might be a completely different experience

Fears of the birthing process are also normal. Different labor stories can make the experience scarier the second time around. If you have any anxieties or concerns, don’t forget to discuss them with your doctor. Attending pregnancy classes might also help ease a lot of your anxiety.

You might not be able to breastfeed again

Attending classes can go a long way to prepare you for any fears that you might not be able to breastfeed your second child. This is especially true if there are plenty of years in between the two births.

You don’t remember what to do anymore

If there’s a huge gap between your first and second child, one likely fear is that you’ve forgotten what the birthing process is like. No worries. Attending a class is an easy fix for your problems. Think of it as a refresher course. You’ll remember a lot of what happened the first time around sooner rather than later.

You don’t know what to do with your first child

It’ll take some getting used to, but you make sure you have someone who can look after your child in case you go into labor unexpectedly. Explain what would happen so your child won’t be afraid when the time comes.
