If you are missing one, several or all teeth, dental implants can restore your smile. To replace a single tooth obviously you need an implant, but if you’re missing more teeth you will not be required to have one implant placed per missing tooth, but less. This is because implants can support fixed dental bridges or dentures. The best example is the recovery of all your teeth supported by only four implants. What are the options for dental implant treatment? Experts distinguish three treatment options with dental implants below:

1. Replacing a single tooth: When you need a single tooth, a single implant is grafted into the bone to replace the root of that tooth; after a crown is attached to the implant to complete the restoration. This treatment option has an increased success rate and has become a long-term treatment to replace a single missing tooth. Although your initial investment is high, the solution is a good value for the money. As if that were not enough, an implant will never suffer decay and feels and looks like a natural tooth.

2. Replacing several teeth: If you need more than one tooth, implants allow you to get them back. For example, if you’re missing three straight teeth you can create a bridge with three crowns to be placed in the edentulous area. In this case two implants, one on each end crown would be used, leaving the crown without the implant.

3. Replacing all teeth: Dental implants also allow for a full set of teeth to prevent slipping. In this case, one can use removable dentures or a modified fixed denture. This prosthesis can mimic the form of a removable denture or be a part of implants with crowns. Sometimes this dental arch can be supported with only 4 implants, although, in cases where there is some need to place bone deterioration, 5 or 6 implants may be needed.

If you have lost one, several or all teeth of an arch, dental implants can be a good solution for you. Cosmetic Dentistry can provide you with numerous options, but implants seem to be the best. Contact Smile Solutions PC to learn more.
