American Leadership Academy is a part of the public system of Schools in Gilbert AZ. However, it is a charter school that is not held to all of the same restrictions as a normal public school. This allows the charter school to limit the amount of students that can enroll through a rigorous selection process. This allows the student to teacher ratio to be small enough so that each student can get personalized attention without inundating the available teachers. This balance of students to teachers is also important because it allows the students to not feel like they are just another student, but that they are a valued student that has their efforts recognized. The smaller class sizes also encourage the students to become like family to each other and to promote encouragement to each other.
Charter Schools in Gilbert AZ are known for producing students who perform well academically as well as athletically. Production of students that meet this caliber begins with the application process to enter the school. Each student is reviewed to determine which ones would make the greatest contribution to the student body. The members of this review committee may be made up of the leaders of the community in which the school is located, teachers, parents, business owners and others that can meet the financial obligations of operating the school. The students at the charter schools are mentored to become leaders, successful business people and entrepreneurs. This is accomplished through stimulating the individual creativity for every student.
Every class the student takes at the charter school prepares the student for life after they leave the charter school. As a result, the students usually excel in state-wide tests and following through on guided career paths. The students have a chance to experience other cultures, and many of the upper-level students may receive a chance to experience those cultures during class trips to different countries. Through interacting with other cultures, most of the students are more compassionate towards other cultures and more aware of the world outside of their own nationality. The teaching methods authorized by the chartering board allow the teachers to be creative with teaching in unconventional methods as long as it allows the students to explore their own creativity and grasp the concepts more efficiently.
